So, what are correspondences? They are additional elements used to help achieve a goal, whether celebrating a Sabbat or used in spell work.
As mentioned in last week’s lesson, everything carries within it power. And all power is connected. But each thing vibrates or echoes on a different frequency. That is why we use correspondences, to bring things of similar frequencies together to intensify the energies raised.
Using correspondences is like using a recipe. If you’re making a cake, you wouldn’t use motor oil because it doesn’t belong there. If you use it, the results will be disastrous.
So, I’ve listed the correspondences. But you don’t have to use each and every single type. As I’ve said before, the most important thing is YOU and the mindset you bring with you. You don’t actually even need any correspondences. But they are useful in helping to bring about the change within you that is necessary to achieve your goal.
But don’t try to clutter up the works by thinking you have to use something from each category. Some people work only with oils where others will only use herbs. Some people use only candles anointed with a simple oil while others create and use charts based upon astrological signs. (Okay, I’ve not added that information because, frankly, I just don’t get it.)
Look at the correspondences. Look at your current life style. Is there a correspondence that you are already using? Maybe you do aromatherapy. If so, look into the correspondences for oils and incenses. Maybe, like me, you like candles. But then I also like cooking which is why I also use herbs.
Make your choices based upon what appeals to you. Once you know which type(s) appeals to you, take sometime to read over the material presented.
And thus ends this week’s
lesson.
