Patchouli (pogostemon cablin or pogostemon patchouli )

Okay, put a drop on a Q-tip, and do your sniffing.  What do you think?  Is it an oil that you would like to use often?  Does it smell like dust?  Maybe like mold?  Or perhaps it smells happy to you?  Does it bring back memories?  Just go with your own feelings.

TIP!  What do you do with all this information?  Do you print it off and stick it in a folder, lay it by the side?  MY suggestion (and this has worked VERY well for me) is to put it all down on a 3x5 card.  Start at the top with the common name and the botanical name.  Put down the ritual uses as well as the number of drops in a tablespoon.  Make sure to write down any safety information, highlight it, so you don’t miss it when reading your card.

        Ritual uses of Patchouli:

Parts used: leaves and the Essential Oil.

Use Patchouli for:  Sex magic, for hyper-awareness when communing with the Gods, physical energy, for grounding, depression, self assurance.

Patchouli’s Practical uses are: Healing cracked and dry skin, cellulite, acne, dermatitis, eczema, scars

When using Patchouli use no more than 4 drops in one tablespoon or 15mls of a carrier oil or a cream, or more than 4 drops in the tub or in a diffuser.

When working to dispel depression, why not wear some patchouli leaves in an amulet bag along with a rose quartz (for self love).  Refresh from time to time with a drop of Patchouli oil.

If you can't get patchouli leaves, try using Lavender flowers instead and add a drop of patchouli to it.  Carry it in your brief case, pocket or handbag when entering situations where you need extra self confidence, such as job interviews, speaking in front of a crowd etc.

And that’s the lesson on Patchouli.

        Bright Blessing
