This week’s lesson is going to be short.

Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha) Extractred through steam distillation

Okay, get your Q-tip and start your sniffing.  How are you keeping your information?  Are you writing down your impressions?  And what do you think of Myrrh?  Is it a lightweight oil?  Is it a floral oil?  Does it smell like freshly tilled soil, or perhaps like house dust?  Add what are your  impressions note wise of this oil?  Top note?  Hmmmmmm.

Safety Information: avoid use on damaged and hypersensitive skin, and on pregnant women.

Magical Uses for Myrrh: Healing energies, to reinforce positive energies, meditation

Main Chemical Components, Sesquiterpenes, terpene hydrocarbons

Use Myrrh for gingivitis, gum disease, canker sores, respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, colds, skin ulcers, weeping eczema, wrinkles, boils, skin ulcers, apathy, calming

Okay.  Dosage.  In 15 mls of a carrier oil 3 drops max.  Not a whole lot is it?  But then, it doesn’t take a whole lot of our lovely Essential Oils for them to be effective.

Always remember, when mixing up a potion, if you cannot remember how much to use, LESS IS BEST.  It is ALWAYS better to go with a lower amount than to go high.

Some ways in which to use Myrrh:

Myrrh is one of those oils which are great to diffuse when doing Reiki.  Diffuse it together with Frankincense to increase awareness and to help aid in the healing process.

Or why not make an amulet bag:

Take some blue silk (cotton will do as well) for healing, use green thread for success, charge a Rose Quartz for self love, place it in the bag, along with chamomile flowers, Lavender flowers, add a drop of Myrrh and a drop of Frankincense.  Close.  Bless the bag under the full moon.  By the by, the Goddess of Healing is Quan-Yin (Kwan-Yin is another way to spell it).

You can sleep with it under your pillow, and/or wear it around your neck during the day.  I recommend wearing it around your neck, so you can actually smell the pouch.

Your side note for this week: ventilation.  Having good ventilation when working with Essential Oils is extremely important.  Remember that when you are mixing oils, if you don’t have good ventilation, you are rising over dosing yourself.  The first sign of this is the "Overdose Headache".  Yes, I have gotten them and they are nasty.  So try and have a good fan, windows open, the whole bit.

And that’s your lesson for this week. I hope you have enjoyed it.

As usual, questions and comments can go on the message board.

        Bright Blessings
