Sons of Veterans Reserve
The Sons of Veteran is the Ceremonial, uniformed military component of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. In the early 20th Century, When the S.U.V.C.W moved toward a more patriotic and educational organization , many Camps formed reserve military units. These volunteered for service during the Spanish American War, World War I, and with the National Guard. Just prior ot W.W.I, over 5,000 men belonged to the SVR. After World War II, the SVR evolved into ceremonial and commemorate organization. Today , the SVR consists of seven geographic military district with more than 100 units. SVR units and members participate in Civil War related ceremonies , parades , living history programs and reenactments- all dedicated to honoring Union Soldiers and perpetuating their memory. The Sons of Veterans Reserve is governed by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Constitution and Regulations and its own Standard Operating Procedure.
Individual Membership to the Sons of Veterans Reserves.
Membership in the Sons of Veterans Reserves is open
to any member or Associate of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War at
the Cost of $3.00 for membership. To be member of the SVR, you must also
be a member of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Individual must
file an application (SVR Form 5) For membership . You are feel free to

Unit Membership
SVR Units agree to:
1) Support the mission and objectives of the Sons
of Veterans Reserve
2) Maintain a membership of least six of S. U. V.
C. W. members (submit a unit roster).
3.) Abide by the SVR'S standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs), including staffing, structure, semi-annual reporting reguirments
and minimal dues.
4.) Complete SVR Forms 3 and 19.
SVR Military District
1ST - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
Rode Island, Vermont.
2nd - Delaware, Maryland New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania,
Virginia.
3rd- Indiana, Kentucky Michigan, Ohio
4th Illinois, Iowa Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin.
5th- Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico
North & South Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming.
6th Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah,
Washington.
7th- Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, North
& South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida.
Uniform Requirements.
SVR members wear the U.S. Army uniform of 1861 to
1865, made of wool. Color and style conform to the revised U.S. Army Regulations
of 1861 0r 1863. Footwear and eyeglasses should conform as close as possible
to that of the Civil War Era. Exception include
1. The metal or fabric SUV or SVR emblem and wreath
may be worn the appropriate headgear.
2. SVR collar insignia with earned S.U.V.C.W. medals
may be worn on uniforms.
3. S.U.V.C.W. medals are worn on accordance with the
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Constitution and Regulations.
4. S.U.V.C.W. crest or SV buttons may be worn on the
uniform.
5. S.V., S.V.R., S.U.V. or G. A. R. sheath swords
may be worn.
6. The S.V.R. membership badge is worn on the
extreme left of the wearer's right right of all S. U. V. C. W. badges.
