August 9 Song School Showcase
Every August I go to Lyons, Colorado and camp out for a week with songwriters from all over the country. This year I'll be doing the same. August 10-14 is the "Song School", a songwriting school. Then August 15-17 is the Folks Festival, 3 days of music performances and fun. For info, see the Planet Bluegrass website
Last year I organized a little showcase for some of my out-of-state Song School friends the Saturday night before Song School started. It was held at my neighborhood bar in Denver, Gennaro's. I've recently sent out emails to these friends, and already have 8 people who would like to play again this year. This year I'm approaching some of the music Denver music promoters in hopes that they will take it and run with it. This would give these great songwriters more exposure than I could. I'll keep you posted.
Status of The Listening Room
I stopped organizing Listening Room shows because it was taking time away from my own songwriting and performing. However, others have taken up the cause, most notably Jonathan Bitz of Syntax. Read on...
The Living Room Series and A Moveable Feast
Jonathan Bitz has organized a series of songwriter showcases called The Living Room, which take place at The Meadowlark Bar in Denver. In addition, Jonathan has organized 3-day showcases called A Moveable Feast once or twice a year. Singer-Songwriter Jack Redell has also been involved. The next one is planned for sometime in August.
