The Listening Room Idea

When I was 18-19 years old in Dallas, I used to go to a few select bars and listen to people like BW Stevenson, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Shake Russell. There was no dance floor, and no need for it, because the music wasn't geared towards dancing, it was geared towards listening. I loved sitting at a table with a friend or girlfriend, drinking a beer or whatever, and listening to the music--and the lyrics. I can't find a place like that in Denver. Most live music venues in Denver are geared towards high energy rock or dance music. Some don't even have tables and chairs. Not that I have anything against moshing and dancing. But sometimes you just want to sit and listen.
