Daddy's Little Girl

Driving through the cornfields, up Highway 65
Headed for Chicago, leavin' Indy behind
Daddy cried when he kissed me
Stuck a hundred in my pocket
Said, "Always close the door, honey
"And don't forget to lock it"
"Don't ever take a taxi
"And don't forget to phone"
Daddy's little girl, is leavin' home
I'm leavin' home, leavin' home

Feelin' like a goldfish, stuck in a bowl
Dropped into the ocean, don't know where to go
I'm on the 7th floor, 2nd door
Room enough, for all my stuff (oh yeah)
Open up the window
Hear the taxi's groan
Daddy's little girl, is all alone
I'm all alone, all alone.

(Bridge)
Sittin' on my balcony
Thinkin' 'bout my family
Looking out at Wrigley Field
Wondering what's the big deal
Thought I heard the phone ring
Then I hear the people sing:
"Take me out to the ballgame
"Take me out to the crowd"

I'm gonna call me a taxi, gonna go downtown
Time to step up to the plate
And have a look around
Gonna find me the bright lights
Find the open mike nights
Meet me a Cubs fan
Maybe a husband
I'm swimmin' in the city now, free to roam
Dadddy's little girl, is all grown
I'm all grown, and I ain't never goin' home

Well, maybe for Christmas...
