Invisible Prison

by Rob Roper © 2004

I live in a prison, with invisible walls
With invisible guards, in invisible halls
I wish I could break out
Set myself free
But I can't seem to find
The invisible key

Oh, isn't there someone
Who could help me?
Uncover my eyes
So I can see
All these fine opportunities
That I seem to miss
There's got to be something
Better than this.

Oh, I got a job, guess I can't complain
"Just be glad that you got one, brother"
That's what they all say
And I got a house, I ain't sleeping in the rain
But sometimes I wish a tornado'd come
And just blow it all away.

Oh, isn't there someone
Who could help me?
Uncover my eyes
So I can see
All these fine opportunities
That I seem to miss
There's got to be something
Better than this.

Now I'm walking to a crossroads, but there ain't no signs
To point out the direction--go left, or go right?
Either one is better
Than the place I'm at
But choices paralyze me
So I turn around and go back.

Oh, isn't there someone
Who could help me?
Uncover my eyes
So I can see
All these fine opportunities
That I seem to miss
There's got to be something
Better than this.

There's got to be something
Better than this.
I just know that there's something
Better than this.
