She had a smile, that could stop the world
Eyes that could hypnotize
Oh, what a beautiful girl
And any man in the bar was hers to choose
(My friend said), "Go talk to her man!
What do you got to lose?"
I said no way, I could never do that
I mean she's the homecoming queen
A pedigree cat
And I'm just an old dog, long abused
He said, "I repeat my question:
What do you got to lose?"
He said, "You got to take a look outside
past that ole Pabst Blue Ribbon sign
at everything going on in our times
Now she might shoot you down
And you might look the clown
But that don't mean a hill of beans
In the overall scheme of things
Well, I had to admit, that he was right
There was really no good reason
for all my stage fright
But first, just one more shot of booze
What do I got to lose?
So I walked on up, and said "How are you tonight?"
The fools shooting pool
were watching me in the spotlight
"So how 'bout I buy you a drink or two?"
"What do you got to lose?
She smiled that smile, that could stop the world
Her eyes had me hypnotized,

All I could do, was look down at my shoes
