Ross & MacKenzie
The
musical chemistry of Ross and Laura
MacKenzie is a blend of warmth, humor and understanding, gained
through years of performing together.
They
specialize in concerts of Scottish music, with an Irish element as
well -
their vocal harmonies on the songs of Robert Burns are a special
treat.
Their family programs include Irish, Scottish and English
song games and dances, and a multitude of musical instruments.
Irish step dancers add extra dazzle to
a Ross & MacKenzie performance.
The Sutter Brothers
The
Sutter Brothers, Ross and Barton, have performed together ever since
they were growing up as a couple of preacher's kids. Ross is the
musician, Bart is the poet.
They've both built reputations on their
own (Bart recently served as Poet Laureate of Duluth), but when they
perform as a pair, their work has the kind of counterpoint and
easy intimacy unique to sibling acts. Recent performances include
the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua, "Marshall Festival
5: Celebrating Writing in Minnesota", and the 2006 National
Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh.
Northern Gael
When the extraordinary fiddler Tom Schaefer joins forces with Ross
and Laura, they become Northern Gael, a powerful blast of traditional
music.
