CRAMA February 2006 Update
Dear CRAMA supporters,
Petition Drive
It will please you to know that our petition drive is a success. Over a hundred homeowners in Sun Lakes volunteered to go door to door to collect signatures. As a result we are quickly approaching the 6000 level! And more are coming in every day.
Neighborhood HOAs
On January 18th in the evening, CRAMA hosted a special meeting for Homeowner Associations outside of Sun Lakes. Leaders of 10 associations listened to the CRAMA presentation. As a follow up, Crama was invited to give our presentation to several of these Associations and petition drives in those areas are being organized.
Gila River Indian Community
The GRIC has notified us by phone, that the Tribal Council has not yet made any decisions concerning the Memorial Airfield project. They are, however, aware of the opposition to this project and will be getting back to us once a decision has been made. We are delighted that we now have a direct dialog with GRIC, and CRAMA is looking forward to meet with the Tribal leadership at any time to discuss the issue.
Intel
Many of you have been wondering what is INTEL's position regarding a Jet Airport. We have written to Intel asking for an opportunity to give a presentation to their management to explain our concerns. While we had no formal reply to our request, a spokesman for INTEL addressed a special Phase III HOA Board Meeting on Jan 18th. He informed the audience that "INTEL is not opposed " to the GRIC's Jet Airport project. He also stated that GRIC has assured INTEL that all flying would be kept "west of the runway". CRAMA does not believe in the validity of such a promise, since it will not be GRIC that will control the flight patterns. Apparently Intel's neighbors in Ocotillo do not share in this optimism. Making some door-to-door calls, CRAMA had 100% success getting petitions signed in every household we visited.
Town Hall Meeting
On February 2nd another successful Town Hall Meeting was held at 7 pm in Oakwood. It was just as well attended as our October meeting. A 3rd Town Hall Meeting is planned for March 27th at 7 pm. This time, in the San Tan Ball Room in Phase II. This location has been chosen to make it more convenient for those SL I and II residents who may not yet have seen the presentation. Although well over 1000 have already signed the petition.
Website and new email address
We now have our own website: www.users.qwest.net/~rostp. It's easy to access and it provides detailed information. It also allows you to go through our presentation in the comfort of your home. Visit it and let others know about it.
Hopefully most of you received our notification that we had to change our email address. The new address is : crama2@prodigy.net
Thank you!
Well....we saved the sensitive part of this Update for the end. As some of you suspected, and some have already contributed, CRAMA needs help to pay for the Petitions, Fliers, Ads, Room and Equipment rentals.
