Career Preparation

Most health professions are experiencing personnel shortages. To promote
adequate numbers of future health providers, we offer an experiential learning
program to school-age students throughout the western counties of Washington
-- Building Partnerships Program.
How Does This Program Work?
-
Students receive information through their High School Career Center or
school counselor who links them with a WWAHEC locall identified mentor.
-
Students receive materials about health care professions and information
about career exploration opportunities.
-
Local mentors receive resources and training from WWAHEC and classroom
teachers, counselors, and career centers receive resources from WWAHEC.
What Are The Program Goals?
-
To interest high school students in pursuing health professions careers
and help them understand the multitude of exciting opportunities within
the health care area.
-
To assist students with making informed decisions regarding their future
education and employment.
-
To allow students to personally experience the health care world.
-
To increase the total number of young people entering the health care industry.
-
To create local linkages and capacity to mentor future health professionals.
