that there is
only one true God, who revealed Himself in Three Persons; the Father, the Son,
and The Holy Spirit;
that God the
Father sent His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ, to be born of the Virgin Mary
and to suffer and die on the cross in our place as payment for the sins of the
world;
that after His
crucifixion Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He
lives and reigns eternally with the Father;
that Jesus Christ
will return on the last Day to judge both the living and the dead and to take
all those who believe in Him to eternal life in heaven;
that we are
saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for Christ's sake alone;
that the Holy
Spirit works through the means of grace (preaching and teaching of God's Word
and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy communion) to bring us the forgiveness
of sins and eternal life;
and that the
Lutheran Confessions are the correct interpretation and summary of the
teachings of Holy Scripture.
