Family Name Charts
from
GESCHICHTE der FAMILIE JÜNGST

(HISTORY of the JÜNGST FAMILY)
by
Dorothea v. CHAMISSO
1993

The ancestry of my migrating ancestor, Johann Henrich JUENGST (John Henry YINGST) has been traced back to Henne der JUNGESTE, b. 24 December 1440, Niedernetphen, Westfalen, Preussen, Germany. Henne was the son of one BERCHMAN. Family data and relationships for JUENGST descendants from Henne and BERCHMAN are set out in Geschichte der Familie JÜNGST (History of the Family JÜNGST).

Frau v. CHAMISSO'S uncle, Herman JUENGST (1880-1958) began researching the family early in his life. Frau v. CHAMISSO obtained her uncle's handwritten material and transcribed it to typescript. She built on that  research using church records, public records and published literature to produce the book.

I am very grateful to Frau v. CHAMISSO for granting  me permission to scan the family charts and put them into my web site through email from Lucia JUENGST, dated 7 July 2001.

A Family Chart (Familienmitglied) is presented for each father by generation, beginning with Henne (Generation 1). The charts list wives and both male and female children and contain location (abbreviated place names) for male progenitors and birth, marriage, and death data for each person, where available. Subsequent charts, designated with an "S." (Page) number, carry on family lines of male children. Subsequent family lines for female children are not presented in chart form.  Additonal details are contained in text below each chart in the book.

I am scanning Family Charts for each Principal Family Member in my direct line from Henne der JUNGESTE down thru Johann Henrich JUENGST (Generation 10). My direct line ancestors in each chart are identified by italics. One additional page, in  English, will provide very brief details for the descendancy from him to me--I am sixteeth generation. Each chart will be put into a separate web page, with links in the table immediately below. I have reproduced the charts with the German text. As and aid to English readers, translations for the various abbreviated place names and German terms in the charts also are presented below. Note that the abbreviated place names ("Hb", etc.) do not necessarily desginate a place of birth; rather, they desginate where the  family member resided with

I have presented NOTES from TEXT for each of the charts containing information generally not shown in the charts that I have gleaned from the German text. Wherever given, I have included wives' or husband's names if they do not appear in a chart and also, parents names,  if available. Not all marriages for females are shown in the charts; I have included this information where it could be found.

I was recently informed that the book is now out of print and no longer available. The informant does not know whether the book will be reprinted. If that happens, and I am so notified, I will furnish the contact point in this page.

I will do limited lookups in the book. It contains a name index for males who reached at least the age of 18; however, looking for a female requires skimming through the book looking for the person. So, please furnish as much detail as possible–names, places, dates, parents, etc.

Please email me if you have any questions, don't understand the presentations, or find obvious errors.

My entire family line may be viewed at my web site in COMBINED FAMILY DATA... . Links to my online family data are presented below for direct line ancestors in each chart.
