Dear Mr. Kolwicz:
As the newly appointed Secretary of State, I have been charged with the
tremendous responsibility of ensuring that the electoral process is held to the
highest possible standards for the citizens of Colorado.
During my tenure, I plan to work closely with citizens, County Clerks, and other
elected officials to review various issues as they relate to the duties of the
Secretary of State. As I begin my third week in office, I am becoming more aware
of various concerns. Please know that I take these matters seriously, and I will
make every effort to address them appropriately.
As public servants to the citizens of Colorado, my staff is bound by law to
ensure that the highest standards are used when testing voting equipment and
drafting election rules. We spend much staff time making sure that the voter
registration process is open and transparent. You are also welcome to attend any
of our public meetings that may be of interest to you; your comments will be
carefully considered.
I appreciate your interest in these issues, and I believe that others share your
concerns. While there is no perfect electoral system, I will do my best to show
the people of Colorado that we are making every possible effort to “raise the
bar.”
Sincerely,
/ Gigi Dennis
Secretary of State
