Subject: Boulder County Serial Number and Associated Barcode
Importance: High

Dear John,

Bill Hobbs has indicated to me that I should address questions directly to you in the matter of serial numbers and barcodes on ballots to be used in Boulder County later this year.

Will you please approve or revise the following statement which I have drawn from Bill's email to me based on his information from you?

"The Boulder County HART InterCivic paper ballots will no longer have printed on them a number that uniquely identifies the ballot.  Although they will have printed on each ballot an identical bar code, the barcode does not vary from ballot to ballot and cannot be used to uniquely identify a ballot.”

I would like to provide this information for the public hearing on Wednesday, May 24, 2006.

In addition, will  you please send me some evidence or confirmation from Boulder County that the preceding statement is correct.

Thank you, John, for your assistance in bringing this long running matter to a positive conclusion, one that in my view and the view of many conforms to Article VII, Section 8 of the Colorado Constitution.

Sincerely,

Dean (Schooler)
