Subject: Conspiracy?

Dear Secretary of State Dennis,

It appears that the Secretary of State and Boulder County are working together to block vital election information from becoming public.  We hope that this is not the case.

Please review the attached 15 pages.  Since at least August 2005, you will find that we have been asking to understand Boulder County’s plan for anonymous voting in the 2006 elections.

1.      We wish to know whether the paper ballots to be used for the August 2006 election and the November 2006 election will be marked by the county/vendor/printer in any way whereby the ballot can be uniquely identified.  This would include identifying numbers, bar codes, and/or any other marking that can be used to identify a particular ballot.

2.      If they are on the ballot that is issued to the voter, then we wish to know if all such identifying markings are removed from the ballot before the ballot is cast.

We have a right to know if Boulder County will provide anonymous voting for the 2006 elections.

It is outrageous that the Secretary of State and Boulder County would endanger the public’s right to a secret ballot by hiding from the public the information needed to challenge a decision to use non-anonymous ballots..

We appeal to you to intervene and require that Boulder County immediately answer the two questions above.

Thank you for your attention to this vital matter.
