Art's Character Record Sheet II
Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest Character
Sheet. I've put in many countless hours of effort into this sheet, and I truely
hope that you enjoy using it at the gaming table!
If you are simply curious as to
what your character might look like with this sheet, check out the preview (note
that this character has been built a bit unusually in order to illustrate
some of the sheet's formatting), or get right to the download (but
don't skip the Usage Agreement)!
Usage Agreement:
By downloading the file 'Character Sheet (Art)' you agree to abide by
the following: You may make any changes to this sheet for your own personal
use.
If you incorporate sections of this sheet (wholly or in part) into
your own sheet and then make your sheet available to others for download,
you must clearly indicate
proper
attribution (no illegible fonts or font sizes) for the source of the section
(or sections), on either page one or page two of your sheet. Proper attribution
must include the
section (or sections) and the Sheet Author which is defined to be
any of the following: Character Sheet (Art); Art Urban; or SikSavant. Ta
Da! That's
it. I just want to recognize the authors that work so hard on these sheets;
they
really do deserve it.
Attribution Example 1: "Weapon, Equipment, Coin, and Spell sections
by SikSavant"
Attribution Example 2: "SikSavant for the Weapon, Equipment, Coin,
and Spell sections"
Installation Preamble:
If you have an older version of this sheet, please be aware that the files
contained in the download will overwrite the files
of the previous version. If for any reason you want to retain
the older character sheet, then I recommend renaming the old files before performing
the installation as outlined below. You can always rename them to <filename>-ArtOld,
for example, but you must rename all the "Art" files (inlcuding
the one in parenthesis) to prevent overwriting each file.
Installation Instructions:
Download the
file below, and extract (unzip) the contents. Copy
all files found in the folder. Navigate to your installation directory for
eTools 'C:\Program
Files\Wizards
of the Coast\eTools' (most likely). Then navigate into the folder 'XML\Character'.
Paste the files here. There should be no overwrite warning unless this is not the
first time you have installed this record sheet (see preamble above). Now
when you run eTools and Print or Print Preview your character, you will have
the
option
to
use 'Character Sheet (Art)'.
Documentation
A few pointers that I hope will help you get the most
out of this Character Sheet:
- Version Number: In the top-right corner of the front page,
you will find the version number of the sheet that your character was printed
with.
This should help
you
to identify the sheet features (or bugs!) that were available at the time
of printing.
- User Settable Variables: In the file named 'Global Variables-Art'
you will find global variables used to control various display aspects
of the sheet. Each
variable is documented with its own comment block to help you decide if
and how to change the value. Each variable's comment block lists the acceptable
values it understands. You will need a simple text editor, such
as NotePad, to change these variables.
- Print Margins: This Character Sheet has been designed
to be printed with "printer-zero'ed" margins. Understand that each
printer is different in how the manufacturer implemented their paper feed
mechanism,
so not
every printer will allow the same margins. For best results, I suggest
the following:
- Open Internet Explorer, and select the File>Page
Setup menu
item.
- In the dialog window that results, enter '.6' for the left
margin. Then enter '0'
for the right margin and press the Tab key. Zero the entries for
top and bottom margins in the same fashion. Your printer driver
will assign the
minimum allowable margins for these edges.
- Further, you will probably
want to delete the string of characters in the Header and
Footer text fields.
(I believe you can learn what all those special characters
are by reading the IE Help file. If you don't want to lose them forever,
you can
copy/paste
them both into a NotePad document first.)
Change History (Last updated on: 14-Oct-2005)
Version 2.0.14 (Changes courtesy of Ray Phay)
- [NEW]Global Variable added for Psionic
Power Points so that they will be displayed on page 1 or page 3.
- [NEW]Psionic Powers will now display the DC of the power on the spell
sheet. (Metapsionic feats are not applied as these are conditional
to the user expending
his psionic focus)
- [BUG]Corrected the DC adjustment for
Spell Focus, Greater Spell Focus, and Epic Spell Focus.
Version 2.0.13
- [BUG]Martial weapon proficiency fix for
3.5 (untested).
Version 2.0.12
- [BUG]Light Load tag could sometimes
appear as the actual load of the character, instead of Light.
Version 2.0.11
- [BUG]Better code to detect and suppress
Page-3 printing when it is blank.
- [NEW]New code routines to caclulate
many of the Sheets numerics. These routines do a better job of divorcing
the math from it's presentation, and offers higher code reusability. However,
it is possible new bugs have been introduced, in an effort to make the
routines data-independant and generic.
Version 2.0.10
- [BUG]Lines separating each weapon group
somehow got removed - fixed.
- [BUG]Composite bow names and their
strength bonus displayed better for 3.5.
- [BUG]Spell Resistance text in spellbook
handles 3.5 formatting now.
- [BUG]Saving Throw text in spellbook
discards 'object' and 'harmless' subtext as redundant.
- [NEW]Barbarian Rage block can no be
displayed on page-1 or page-3.
- [NEW]The Barbarian Rage and Turn or
Rebuke Undead blocks now default to page-1 instead of page-3 as before.
Most folks don't have so many weapon groups as to make this is impractical.
Version 2.0.9
- [NEW]Turn Undead block should now work
for custom classes that contain the word 'Cleric' or 'Paladin' in the new
class' name. If your class name contains 'Paladin' you will still be subjected
to the "Cleric of a lower level rule" as per any Paladin under 3.5.
- [NEW]Swim skill modifier legend should
report correct 3.0 vs 3.5 text in the legend at the bottom of the skill
table.
Version 2.0.8
- [BUG]Turning Check value now only grants
+2 Turning bonus when Knowledge (Religion) ranks are 5 or higher,
not the total skill value.
- [NEW]Variable 'suppress-zero-rank-skills'
expanded options. This can now be set to two additional values: 'craft'
(suppress Craft zero rank only); 'perform+craft' (suppress Perform and
Craft zero rank only).
Version 2.0.7
- [BUG]Ranged weapon increments beyond the
fifth increment were being calculated wrong. This only affected the new
'use-ranged-headers' display option (introduced in 2.0.5).
Version 2.0.6
- [NEW]Variable 'suppress-zero-rank-skills'
('no' by default). This can be set to one of three values: 'no' (do not
suppress); 'perform' (suppress perform zero rank only); 'all' (suppress
all zero rank
skills).
Version 2.0.5
- [BUG]Skill block could sometimes hilite
consecutive rows.
- [NEW]Familiar/Mount/Companion racial abilities
now displayed.
- [NEW]Animal Companion alignment now
displayed.
- [NEW]Animal Companion languages now
displayed.
- [NEW]Variable 'ua-use-spell-points'
('no' by default). Adds a spell point track, and spell point cost information
to the spellbook. Based on the information in Unearthed Arcana. Does
not presently
account for Bonus Spells becoming Spell Points due to Class Features (such
as Dragon
Disciple).
- [NEW]Variable 'use-ranged-headers ('yes'
by default). New formatting option for displaying ranged weapon increments.
While this does double the number of lines needed for this information,
it is
easier to follow.
Version 2.0.4
- [NEW]Spell-like ability listings should
also now work for Psionic abilities.
- [BUG]Alternate Speeds are no longer presumed
to be Fly, and display correctly now.
Version 2.0.3
- [BUG]Natural armor for mounts/familiars
should stack with racial natural armor (Thrombin fix).
- [BUG]Epic attack and save bonuses are
now added to familiars and paladin mounts (Thrombin fix).
- [NEW]Prepared spells behave better when
prepared in higher slots, and when prepared as domain spells (Thrombin
fix).
Version 2.0.2
- [BUG]Weapons, Armor, and Sheilds with
multiple qualities now display with a comma separator.
- [BUG]All speeds for Animal Companions
now display.
- [NEW]Variable 'animal-companion-page'.
Allows Animal Companions to be displayed on page 1 or page 3.
- [NEW]Variable 'turn-rebuke-page'.
Allows the Turn Undead block to be displayed on page 1 or page 3.

Attacks.
- [NEW] Animals now have separate special
attack and qualities sections, with spell-like abilities displayed in
a condensed format.
- [BUG] Special qualities and special
attacks now display.
Version 2.0
- Original Release: no changes.
