When one thinks of the world of Rifts, one thinks about Bionics, Giant War machines, and a governing body out to destroy that which is different. One does not consider the things of the Rifts Earth to be vulnerable to fire. This is an assumption which has led many adventures to failure when their items are lost in a fire. This is where the firefighter comes in. These people are the dedicated men and women to whom many people owe their lives. They seem to be fearless, and slightly insane...but it's all part of the job for them. They are trained in most of the physical arts, making them better at their job, and they are trained in the techniques of determining how a fire started, and if it was magical or natural in origin. Most Firefighters will be from the larger cities, many probably from the CS cities where fires are the most common. These firefighters are the paid ones(A seperate class will cover the volunteer departments in the rural areas).A member of a department will have access to all the tools of the trade, probably including Axes, prybars, portable water pumps, etc... Items are issued on an "As Needed" basis, with the fireman's superior deciding whether the item is needed or not. I Forsee an interesting twist that these characters could add to the game. Stats on firefighter devices, vehicles, and gear will follow later on. O.C.C. Abilities Fire Clairvoyance: This provides the character to have the intuition to know what a fire will do at any given time. This skill is learned in the firefighter's training and requires no powers whatsoever to use. BASE SKILL: 40% +5% per level Adrenaline Rush: If Firefighter is in a stressful situation involving saving lives, he is Strength and Agility +2 until the situation is over (GM, be fair and use discretion) ATTRIBUTE REQUIREMENTS: P.S. and P.E. 13 or higher, a high M.E. is suggested but not required. Alignment: Good alignments and Aberrant Evil only O.C.C. Skills: Body Building Climb (+25%) Lore: Firefighting Literacy(+15%) Running W.P. Axe W.P. Energy Pistol W.P. Energy rifle Land Navigation(+15%) Hand to Hand: Basic W.P. Prying Bar Firefighting: Basic(+20%) O.C.C. Related Skills Physical: Any(+20%) W.P.: Modern of Choice Firefighting: Advanced, Incident Command only(+25%) Pilot: Fire Engine(Same as Pilot APC)(+35%) Pilot: Any(+15%) Rogue: Pick pockets and Streetwise only(+10%) Science: Any Communications: Any(+10%) Technical: any(+5%) Select 8 skills from the previous list, but at least one must be from firefighting and one from communications. Secondary Skills: Select 4 other skills from the previous list. These are additional areas of knowledge that do not get the advantage of the bonus listed in parinthesis. Money: Monthly Pay of 3500 credits. Recieves food, bed, and other essentials as part of his pay. Starts with two months pay. May also have 2D4x1000 in pre-rifts firefighting equipment. Standard Equipment: Mega-Damage suit of Fire-Resistant Bunker gear. Helmet with environmental systems (50 M.D.C.), clothes, 3 weeks rations, pocket spanner wrench, thermal sensor(pocket size) Several backpacks and knapsacks, one Bag for bunker gear, a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, Fire boots, and likely several CD's of music and a CD player.
