I am presently researching the following surnames: Bowling, aka Bouldin, Boulding, Boulden, Boling, Bolling, Boland, Bolin, Bolen, Bohlyn, etc., Darden or Dearden, Barnes/Barns, and Hays/Hayes.
BOWLING: My GGG GF was Alexander Bowling, b 1781 in VA or NC, married Elizabeth Worthy ca 1800, d 1843 Lawrence Co., AL. His brother was William Bowling, b 1784 VA or NC married Mary ?, d 1870 Hardeman Co., TN.
Thomas Bouldinge (Bouldin), my ancestor as proven by DNA testing (see link below). arrived in Jamestowne, VA in 1610 on the Swan as part of the re-supply effort to save the Colony of Virginia. Much has been written and published over the years about his descendants and some incorrect information survives today in places like Ancestry.com and others. Below is an article that was published in 2007 by Kathy Harbury, a professional genealogist and descendant of Thomas, in the Maryland Genealogy Society Bulletin. This article presents a well documented version of the first four generations starting with Thomas.
