This was one of the best weekends that I can remember, we always enjoyed going to the Fair. We didn't get to do alot of things because money was always so tight, so every year we would start saving ahead of time for the fair. We had never even heard of Rambler (then known as "The REDNECK Band") before that weekend. Infact, we weren't even interested in who might be playing on the day we decided to go. The girls and I just happen to be walking down the midi isle trying to win stuff animals and we heard the music. There was just something about that song they were singing, can't put my finger on it but, it sure did get the best of my courious nature to stop in and see who was performing in there. My daughter's love music as much if not more than I. Infact, they always have been and bet they always will be my biggest fans.
Once we got inside, I ordered all of us something to drink. The energy radiating off that stage was so exillerating. The girls got out on the floor to dance, and I , well I just got lost in thier music. (Not to mention that they were the best looking men I'd seen in a long time! And twins to boot. I think maybe that is why they came over to our table on thier break to say a special hi to my daughters who just happen to be twins. Before we knew it, the fair was about to close. We certainly lost track of time and not a one of us wanted to see the night end. We had spent a couple of break times with our new friends and coming from back east, we don't take friends lightly. We got thier schedule for the rest of the fair and promised to come back and see thier shows. This was a promise we intended to keep. They asked about decent places to they might want to venture to so they could get some real food. I never got out much and couldn't really direct them to any place in particule, eating out for us was simply McDonald's. Dave and Tim was so sweet, they invited us to join the band but I quickly declined, (we had spent our limit and for the three girls and I to all go out to eat would have been too costly.
We went home all of us too excited to sleep, and discussed plans on what we could do to come up with enough money so we could return when "Redneck" played again.
The girls decided they would have a sale. Their choice of "goods" was koolaid. You have to remember, they were quite young back then. They were determined so I helped them get set up. I on the other had, knowing that a koolaid sale wouldn't cover parking, adimisson, (Bless thier hearts) tried to pull in some of my own resources. Believe it or not, we were able to come up with enough money to go back. We all took naps so we would be well rested and when the time came, we went. We had asked some friends and family to join us and all said they would but everyone had decided to go at different times. (By now you probably think, yep just more groupies) I assure you, groupies we are not. We were simply guilty of wanting new friends, and there was just something about them. They were so personal and friendly. They took the time to spend with the girls, even put them up on the stage and let them dance while they sang one of thier songs! They made us feel special. Of all the entertainers I have meet in my life, no one will ever compare to RAMBLER. I made up my mind that weekend, I would try to stay in touch with them. Dave had sat down and talked with me some and I told him about my love for music and that I had plans of becoming a famous singer some day. He told me to go back to school. That defineatly wasn't what I expected him to say, and not what I wanted to hear. Singing was the one dream I never plan to let go.
Not to get into any personal details of my past life, but I had to have something I could hold on to and dream about. I was a little set back by what he said, even the tone of his voice. I also relizsed that he wasn't the type of person that would say something he didn't believe in. Of all the talking we did, that stuck in my mind the most for all these years. The weekend ended and we said our good-byes. We told them we would meet them here same place same time next year. They said they would be happy to come back.. We had taken pictures and the girls had given them pictures to keep as a reminder. (Which we took out and viewed and discussed several times over the years.)
I'm going to quit there for now. Below are some more pictures, most I took, some you may have seen on RAMBLERS Web Page. Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy providing them.
