Eternal Death
Written by My Friend Joshua Ide

A man kissed his kids goodbye on Friday afternoon before they left for school. It was going to be
a very long day at work. He didn't mind though, it was making him money, a lot of it. "With this
money I can finally buy my daughter that new doll house she wanted, and my son that new bike.
But first I need a drink." He walked over to the cabinet and pulled out some whiskey that was
almost empty. "Rats." He looked at it with a sad expression. He knew deep inside himself that this
wasn't a very good example to set for his kids, plus this drinking has becoming out of hand lately.
The smell of whiskey coming from the bottle quickly diverted his attention and he quickly unscrewed
the cap and downed the whole bottle. "Ahhh.. nothing like a few swigs to start the day off right."

While driving to work, the man started to go into deep thought. "I need to start pulling my life together,
I feel like i'm stuck and just can't move forward. I have everything I need, yet I am not happy..
What is missing?? Why do I feel so empty? I have my kids, my wife, a lot of money, and a lot of friends.
Why do I feel so hollow?" This thought remaind with him all the way to work.

When the man arrived, the secretary buzzed him office, "Sir, your boss wants to see you."
The man answered back quickly "Certainly." As he knocked on the door, he heard his boss say
"Come in." The man sat down in front of his boss. His boss looks at him with a poker face.
"Is that alcohol I smell on your breath?" "Um.. uh.. yes sir." I called you in here to talk
to you about your performance here at the Firm. Evidently you've already have shown me why it has
diminished. It is 9am in the morning and you come in here smelling like a liquor cabinet." "But
Sir, I'm not drunk." the man replied. His boss looked at him. Look, we have clients that pay top
dollar for our undivided attention, Obviously something has caught yours. Pack your
things, I can find better.

The man astonished slowly got up, gathered his things and walked out. Slowly his anger rose..
"Who is he to fire me! I have a family! a wife! kids even! oh just you wait, i'll get back at him!
i'll get even." Oblivious to the fact that he drove, the man started walking up and down
the street mumbling to himself and not really sure where he was going. He came to a
white park bench and sat down. He looked at his suit, "This is suppose to be my lucky suit
even." He started staring at the ground and put his hands on his head and touched his head to
his knees. "What now? Where do I go from here?" Over taken by emotion the man started
to slightly cry, "Why does bad stuff always happen to me, when will I ever get a break?"

He stood up. There was a child running out in the middle of the street to get a ball, the child tripped
and fell. Oh no! the man shouted. He could see the sports car heading right for the boy.
Without thinking he quickly ran over and scooped him up. He turned quickly to look
at the car, it was only 5 ft from them. I'm gonna die! he thought.

The Power of the Lord came upon him. He held out his hand, and the car blew a tire which
swerved the car enough to miss them. Sweating heavily the man thought "whew, what luck.
We almost died." He set the boy down on the sidewalk and walked across the street. He didn't see
the pickup coming.

It was a glancing blow to the stomach, the man got up instantly. He could see that the pickup had
crashed into a parked vehicle to avoid him. It was on fire. He ran over to the pickup
and could see the driver unconscious. He tried pulling on the handle but the door was jammed.
He could see the flames creeping on the inside now. He's gonna burn to death! Just then the
Power of the Lord came upon him again. He grabbed the door handle and ripped the door off its hinges.
He grabbed the seat belt and ripped it right out of its foundation, and pulled the man to safety.

The man then collapsed.

He woke up in the E.R. a few times, coming in and out of consciousness. He woke up again, this
time without pain, he saw a bunch of bright white angels around him. "Am.. am.. am I dead?"
"No my dear child of God.. not yet. We are here because He sent us." "He sent you? What for?"
The beautiful angel looked at him with warmth and love in his eyes.. "To escort you before the
King. He is awaiting your arrival." The man with a puzzled look thought for a moment "So I am
gonna die? I can't! not yet! my family!" The angel glowed brighter and said: "My dearest
child of God.. Everyone eventually dies. This life you are in does not even compare to all
eternity. Everyone must die, and so shall you." In that instant the man was standing before God

He stared into the darkness. Then it began...

Shimmering and sparkling with pure light he saw the outline of a throne that was beyond words..
and it began to grow brighter and brighter. Without even knowing, the mans knee bended and his
head bowed, as if they knew what to do. He heard footsteps of thunder. And before him stood the
Lord. The King placed his hand on the mans shoulder and said: "I am the first and the last,
there was never a time I did not exist. Rise." The man stood up, and the Lord could see the tears
streaming down his face. He gently wiped them away.

"I love you my Son." The man then fell down at His feet and cried like he never has before.

This was the day the man dreaded the most, somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he would one
day be standing before God Himself. He just did not want to believe it was actually true.

The Lord held out the Book of Life in front of Him. The book glowed and became brighter with each
word of itself being pronounced out.

The Lord looked at the man: "This is the Book of Life.. You, my Son are not in it."

Surely my Lord! You have seen the great deeds I have done! Surely you have seen me save two
lives! Surely you have seen the great amount of money I have given to your church! Please
Lord I now believe in you! Trust me please I really do! I so badly want to go to Heaven
now! Almighty Sovereign Lord, please have mercy on my soul!

The Lord's eyes started to slowly glow red with anger: "SILENCE!.. You saved that boy, because I used you
to do so. You saved that man in the pickup because I sent you to do so. I needed someone to save
them, for it is not yet their time to die. Your time has come!"

The man took a step back in fear.. The Lord's voice heightened..

"Throughout your life you have come to church when YOU wanted to. I have sent endless supplies
of people to you. Some of them were even angels. They ministered unto you, but you didn't
listen. You were quick to decide that I was not important after you left church. You forgot
about me the very hour you left church.

Tears of blood started running down the Lord.. I CRIED FOR YOU, WHEN YOU ROLLED
OVER TO SHUT OFF THE ALARM AND DECIDED NOT TO COME TO CHURCH
ON MOST SUNDAYS! Don't you see! I love you my Son! I love you with everything in Me!
I tried so hard for you, and only you. I blew the breath of life inside you! I did it because I love you.

The man started stepping backwards..

"I was not important to you, I never was. My Holy presence devours you, forever will I always
live in you."

The man had a big knot in his throat.. He didn't know what to say. His eyes grew big and dark..
he was very scared. Then in a large deafening booming voice.. the Lord said:
"DEPART FROM ME!, for sin can not live in My Kingdom, and you are infested with it!"

In that instant the man felt his soul divide and seperate. He saw his life flash before his eyes,
he saw all the chances that he had to get to know the Lord and read the Bible. He saw
the time with his kids and then realizing he'll never get to see them ever again, or his wife.
He was eternally seperated from them forever. But most importantly he was seperated
from the Lord. That hollow feeling in his heart was intensified beyond suffering, and now there
was no way to fill the void ever again. He would sit there and be tortured for all eternity in Hell.
