You and I
                                    by C B Robertson

I had a dream I saw beautiful you
      Sitting on a cliff
Soaking in the beauty of the red rock
I walked up to see what you were looking at
You glance up at me and gave a little grin
At that moment I realized who you were
You wondered why I didn't leave
      I wondered why you stayed
I was the stranger, yet so were you
You said the birds sounded beautiful
I asked you to describe it
To tell me how they made you feel
You asked if I could sing
(No, only my heart when I saw that pretty girl sitting there)
I told you the birds must sound almost as beautiful as you
You turned a little red but still looked at me and grinned
I asked if you wanted to go down to the stream
      Have a little fun
In my amazement you jumped right up and walked with me
I felt like a little kid
      Losing my inhibitions
Forgetting about the world around us
      We romped in the stream
      Getting our feet wet
      Splashing each other
      Laughing until our faces hurt
For those few moments we were just two people
Enjoying nothing but the thrill of the moment
Then when it ended you looked at me and said you had to go
You looked so sad yet refreshed
      You turned and walked away
      I yelled thank you
      You turned and waved
Maybe you felt something you hadn't felt in a long time-freedom
      I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time-love
