The Beach's Edge

Shhh!

This is a sacred place

where the tide goes in and out.

Where it is so quiet

you can hear the purple starfish talking

and the waves whispering.

Where the mussels sing

their black shell songs as they open and close.

Far off at sea,

you can see the whales blow their salty spray

At the sand's end crabs scuttle quickly

to catch bits of food.

As I stand where the water begins,

my parents call, Don't stand alone".

But I am not alone.

I have the ocean, the sky

and the sea creatures

to be my friends.
