(Children in the Martial Arts)
Combat martial arts is for the defense of self, family and country. There is no other reason to train combat. Some of today's "Junior black belts" have good technique, but they cannot and will never be able to command those techniques to defend self, family or country from an adult assailant. A combat martial artist is taught to destroy their opponent using the most lethal techniques he has available, and to end the confrontation as quickly as possible. Before the age of sixteen, these ideals are not within the grasp of their experience. If they were shown photos of what these techniques do, it would affect them for the rest of their lives. Without that imagination, they will NEVER comprehend their techniques. A full-grown adult male can grab a twelve-year-old child and crush him, regardless of his ability. They are children; let them be that way until they are ready.
