52 runners lined up and enjoyed the exceedingly fine flowers and scenery as well as cooler temperatures for a change.  32 finished the full marathon.  Ken Jensen, an unassuming guy who couldn't even remember he won last years marathon,  went out hard and set a new record to Mill D as well as a new course record in 4:11.  Derek Blaylock pushed him all the way running the 5th fastest time ever in 4:26. Shane Martin, Jeff Lamora, Dan Haesloop, Dave Hunt, and Shaun Jacobsen were also under 5 hours.  Way to go you speed demons.  Sarah Evans didn't threaten Ruth Zollingers course record of 4:50 but had a great run for the women with a 5:22.  Last year's winner, Eve Davies came in at 5:46 and then Chris Bailey and Mandy Hosford nabbed a tie in 6:30.  Great performances put in by all.
Gigantic thanks to Stan Crane, the Pancake Man, who went our early in the week and rearranged some rocks and ribbons to help you stay on course.  This was a real bonus to some of our runners who think they should be granted special help when the trail gets a little confusing.  Well, you could learn the trail before hand.  Ever think of that?  This course is marked too well already and it won't get any better.  Live with it.
John Grobben and John Moellmer were both exceedingly kind to the runners by helping at the Mill D aid station and then manning the Guardsman Pass aid station.  Roger Adams lent a hand while tending little Garrick whose mom, Jill Bohney,  put in 20 miles for the day.

Good luck to Lee Moss who is going to do the Vermont 100 and was resting and soaking in a little inspiration.
Phil Lowry took pictures of you guys while he and Kristina were going the reverse way on the course.  Thanks to Joan Moellmer for going down and retrieving them.
This was the 17th annual Brighton Marathon started by the Wasatch Gorilla in 1988. It was a fun day for all.  I take great pleasure in heading up the task force that helps you runners have a fun high mountain trail run.
I was very grateful many of you started early and kept your own times.  Thanks.
It is hard to sit out and not run the course with you but it is also rewarding to be with Grobben and Moellmer and others at the aid stations and see your slobbery faces.  You stink and that is a complement.
See you out on the trails.
