DESOLATION TRAIL MARATHON
27      SEPTEMBER        2008

"A beautiful autumn day in the Wasatch!!  Blue sky, yellow, rust, and red colors splashed against the dark green hillsides. A sprinkle or two and some very small patches of snow high up in Millcreek were the only signs of weather. It was mostly sunny and warm with some high clouds throughout the day. Front runner, Dan Hall, saw a big! big! moose in the Butler Fork area.   A good time was had by all!
The Desolation Marathon is a self-supported run - a group of friends out together celebrating the season. As such, you must be prepared to take care of your own aid, water, and directions.  We missed Stan’s pancakes (illness) and Irv’s cute kids (work) but several people stepped up to help make it happen this year. Claude Grant and Brian and Cindy Howard provided an aid station at Blunder Fork.    Art Myshrall and Alan Watson carried in about 6 gallons of water to the Utley tree near the Mill B junction."
