Millcreek 50 K
East of Salt Lake City, UT - Millcreek Canyon
30 July 2005 - trails

I've decided to take a shot at a race report. This year's race went well, with a storm blowing over before start time.  The temperature was good for running. The trail was overgrown in spots and that was the only negative thing said. The general consensus was things went well, this was a hard course and times reflect closer to 50 miles times. Jodi Martin, Karen Helfrich and Jeri Pugh finish 1, 2, and 3 on the women's side, all with smiles. This was Jodi's 3rd finish and in both directions. Thanks to Jeri Pugh for confirming the distance with her GPS. Word on the trail was Kevin Shilling started strong and finished strong. Somewhere in the middle Shane Martin and Erik Storheim caught Kevin and they ran together for a time. On the ascent and descent of Grandeur is where Kevin opened up the finishing margin. Shane Martin is our other 3 time finisher and has been first or second every time. Jared Campbell is the only other runner to do both directions on the course.
Thanks to all who volunteered their time and resources to help put the 50K on. Most have helped all 3 years.                     Ken Jensen
