Dear Retiree:

Another year has past and it is time to renew your membership for 2007.  Whether you are a current member, a new retiree or if you have been retired from CWA for a period of time we invite you to join the Retired Members Chapter of Arizona.

The Retired Members Chapter is a separate organization from the active CWA Locals.  We have our own mission statement, purpose and goals.  Our current officers are President Peggy Dewey and Vice-President Linda Glass.

During the past year we have been in discussions with the presidents of the Arizona CWA State Council and have come to an agreement, which extends our RMC membership to all CWA retirees in Arizona.

There are many benefits to belonging to the Retirees Chapter of CWA.  It is a wonderful way to keep up on local union issues.  The Union Plus program, through the AFL-CIO, offers discounts from various businesses.  Social events and rallies for union brothers and sisters are always important for us retirees to continue our support.  Legislative issues are always important especially since we do not have bargaining rights any more. CWA and the AFL-CIO have long been leaders in member’s rights.

Now that we have retired, CWA is again leading the way in issues such as Social Security, Pension protection, and Health Care.  If we read or watch the news, we see that these issues are in the forefront of Congressional discussions.  We, as retirees, still need to be involved also.  We are not alone.  We are working with many like minded groups.  We need to stay in touch with our elected officials to let them know our concerns.  The Chapter is in the process of setting up an 'E' activist’s network.  We are asking that when you join the Chapter that you include your 'e' mail address.  Any questions, contact Dave Starkson at dlstarkson@qwest.net.

Our dues are $12.00 per year for those members that were RMC of AZ members in 2006.  If you were not a member in 2006, you should have received a letter from CWA President Larry Cohen inviting you to join the National Retired Members’ Council, for a one time dues of $25.00.  This entitles you to a life time Retired Members Council membership at the national level.  Those that were members of our RMC in 2006 have been grandfathered and will be lifetime members of the National Retired Members’ Council.  For those who were not members in 2006 and have paid the $25.00, we are waiving the $12.00 dues for the RMC of AZ, which is due June 30, 2007.

Please make your check payable to the “RMC” and return the enclosed form to the address at the top of this letter.  Please visit the CWA Local 7019 page for retiree updates and activities at www.cwa7019.org

In Solidarity,

Peggy Dewey, President RMC
