The Angry Minute 1-12-01 ___________________________________________________

Seventy percent of metro-area schools said they had more vacancies this year than in previous years and that 60% of all districts said they have more vacancies than five years ago. Whats worse, more than half the state of Minnesota school districts say they saw fewer qualified applicants than previous years.
Gee, I wonder if it had to do with the fact that the average teacher Salary in the state of Minnesota over the past 10 years has declined 4%? It doesn't take an idiot like me to predict a disenchantment among prospective teachers. Except of course for the prospective teachers that resulted in the growth of sexual relationships between students and teachers with alternative credentials. Alternative credentials you ask? Yeh, that's the term for the sub par instructors, but god bless them for trying, who are assigned to tutor our children when qualified teachers aren't available. You didn't know your child was being taught by anything other than a teacher? I suggest you find out, because until the Parents right To Know proposal gets past, chances are you wouldn't know.
I'm sure my facts can be disputed and the semantics debated, but the fact is that Education has GOT to be a little more important than incarcerating a pedophile everyone including the parents trust to be something other than.
Or we can continue to pour the money needed for jail systems that otherwise should've gone towards bonafied teachers that may have prevented the imprisonment in the first place.
I mean, am I missing something?
To say it's The Chicken & the Egg would be like saying the only reason Death Row inmates are executed is because they look forward to the Last Meal.
As long as we have enough prisons to house the result of poor education, we'll continue have pedophile teachers, who abuse students, who THEN have the ability to pass on the dysfunctional cycle to THEIR kids, and so on, and son (blah Blah blah).
Pretty soon, all that's left is forage for a full school day of Angry Minutes.
