The proposed execution of a retarded man in the Super-power state of Texas, has raised the question of cruelty in executing persons with mental retardation.
Somehow, the rights of the mentally impaired have fallen wayside when it comes time to address issues larger than equipping every bathroom stall with a hand rail.
Who knew the handicapped could get so complicated??
For the past few years there's been debate over legislation that will enforce the sterilization of anyone with an IQ of less than 70.
While I can entertain the thought of the benefits in sterilizing certain individuals-say, Gilbert Gottfried-the thought of condemning a person simply because of their IQ, only magnifies the ineptness we've shown as a society, or at least a sane society.
Hmmm, let's see, who was the last person to consider extermination based on IQ…was it Hitler??
