Angry Minute 6-29-01
_____________________________________________________________
With just hours to go, The House & Senate continue to stage their "Who Blinks First" strategy ad-nauseam.
Even Steve Forbes is amazed at the fixed stare the house & senate have shown for several months.
Unless the state government produces a not so clever way buying time, the State government faces a partial shutdown Midnight,
Saturday.
It's not entirely surprising that the ego's of a few politicians will force a costly shutdown,
it's the complacency of the taxpayer ourselves that's bemusing.
This isn't about two sides floundering their way to agreement----they've known all along how much time they've had.
I don't get it.
What, did someone rush into the corridors of the captiol last week shouting
"we only have two days, not 52!??"
Somehow the only image I can conjure up, is Steve Sviggum & Roger Moe playing cards
when Doug Johnson bursts into the room pointing at his watch yelling
"did anyone see what time it is??"
I'm sorry, if I didn't finish delivering the mail by the end of the day,
I strongly doubt I'd be around by Friday for my paycheck.
Maybe I couldn't do a better job, but then that's why I'm not a nuclear physicist.
But at least I can admit it.
This isn't rocket science, so quit patting yourselves on the back spinning yarns
about how you're pulling all-nighters for the sake of the budget.
How embarrassing is it, that a job we knew all along would end on June 29th, 2001,
is still unfinished.
That's not diligence, that's ineptness.
On an OFF day, the angry minute needs a good 90 seconds,
but today it seems fitting that my point has been made with room to spare...
see, it's not that hard to finish your job,
even if you're the least bit under qualified.
