Angry Minute 7-13-01

_____________________________________________________________

The tragedy of the infant left behind in a car this week,
has brought forth a proverbial glass house for those of us who own kids-
own being the choice of words from one newspaper.

Lynch the Parents seems to be one solution-
solution the choice of words from another newspaper.

Without condoning the practice of suffocation,
I can't help wonder how many of us have seen our child roam near the edge of the basement stairs,
or wander to the curb of a busy street,
only to have some miraculous hand of a guardian angel avoid tragedy.

Yet, we all seem to be ready as ever to condemn the father of the infant who somehow forgot the final chore for his morning routine,
that is, droppong the infant off at day care.
The state considers charges,
even the Star Tribune Poll respondents had 60% dooming the parents for state prosecution.

But the most self-serving piece of hog crap to land on anyone's morning breakfast table,
was Thursdays train wreck of article by columnist Kim Ode, by name and by trade.
While devoting the first half to the possibility of near tragedy's
and how are kids have survived them,
she begins the assault on the father,
declaring his carelessness, unforgivable.

Everyone has their opinion, I know, but pick the paper up and read for yourself,
just how perfect this Kim Ode must be.
Apparently, according to herself, opens her billfold daily just to look at her children's pictures;
talks about supper and the kids with the father;
and obviously is making a desperate run for parent of the millenium award.

Well, Ms Kim Ode, some of us heathens have busier days than thou art self.
Some of us actually have TWO jobs.
Some of us have greater worries than conjuring up cute kid stories
until we feel like spouting off for the cause of mother of the year.
Stop spouting your self-serving motherdom and take one second to realize
that three lives died with this infant, not just one body.
You've had your guardian angel look after your kids, unfortunately they did not.

Here's a topic for your next column:

People who can, do. People who want everyone to think they can, write.
