Talking God 6

Talking God

This is a Navajo Indian sandpainting of the Dawn Bearer. Made during the Ceremony called "Night Way" Chant.

The arm streamers and sash are of the rainbows.

The feet are the black clouds.

He wears an eagle feather head dress, with eagle plumes.

He holds onto the staff of life, decorated with tail feathers of an eagle, and a turkey.

This painting is all hand done, out of pulverized natural colored sand stones, silicon, and mineral rocks.

By: Grey Squirrel (Fred Stevens, Jr.), Navajo Indian Sandpainter and Medicine Man

Note: Dawn Bearer is another name for Talking God as is Soft Talker. This version is a bit unusual in that he is holding a "Staff of Life" rather than his customary "Skin Bag".

Unique identification points of this Soft Talker:
1. Gray face
2. No skin bag, holds a staff instead
3. Rug pattern kilt
4. Straight body
