CITY ATTORNEY CLEARS SECONDS COUNT!
Boulder, CO––November 1, 2000––After meeting with SECONDS COUNT! campaign officials and thoroughly reviewing the organization’s financial records, Boulder’s City Attorney Joseph de Raismes, III has concluded there was no financial misreporting by the organization, which backs Question 2A in the November 7th election.
The review came after John Spitzer, of the opposition group Safety First, filed a formal complaint implying that SECONDS COUNT! had improperly reported anonymous campaign contributions. The City Attorney determined there had been no wrongdoing of any kind.
SECONDS COUNT! Chair Warren Hultquist said, “We knew we had properly reported all our contributions and expenditures. We’re only sorry Mr. Spitzer strayed from the important issues of the campaign into personal smears. Considering his tactics, it’s no wonder people want to be anonymous. Safety First resorted to negative campaigning because they don’t have a positive message for the voters.”
SECONDS COUNT! is a November 2000 ballot initiative by Boulder, Colorado citizens to prohibit traffic devices that delay emergency response. SECONDS COUNT! is online at http://www.secondscount.org.
