SECONDS COUNT! NEWS RELEASE P. O. Box 19972, Boulder, CO Fax 303-443-3495 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contacts: Warren Hultquist (303) 541-0151 David Wagner (303 440-1005 SECONDS COUNT! FILES ORGANIZATION STATEMENT Boulder, CO-April 10, 2000--SECONDS COUNT! today filed its statement of organization as an issue committee with the city clerk of Boulder, Colorado. According to the official filing, the group will support passage of an initiative measure on traffic devices on the November 2000 ballot. The ballot measure itself , prohibiting two types of traffic mitigation devices on Boulder's public streets, is the result of the same group's successful petition drive last summer. Jack Lacy, treasurer of the committee, said the early filing was necessary because contributions for the fall campaign were already coming in, even though the committee has not started any fundraising efforts. Boulder's municipal code requires a statement of organization to be filed within fifteen days of accepting a contribution. The SECONDS COUNT! committee will use the funds for an educational campaign to inform voters of the risks of delayed emergency response and the preferability of speed limit enforcement approaches that do not endanger lives by degrading medical and fire emergency services. SECONDS COUNT! is a November 2000 ballot initiative by Boulder, Colorado citizens to prohibit traffic devices that delay emergency response. # # # |
