To Whom It May Concern:

The paramedical staff and management of Pridemark Paramedic Services express their support for the Seconds Count! initiative.

Traffic mitigation devices that slow personal vehicles will also slow ambulances and other emergency vehicles. This delays our arrival to the scenes of medical emergencies and transports to the hospitals. Speed bumps and other vertical devices cause discomfort to our patients and make it harder for us to deliver patient care en route to a medical facility. A small traffic circle has a similar effect and also causes confusion about right of way when we encounter other traffic while running under emergency conditions.

Many times paramedics must stand unsupported in the back of an ambulance while providing care to the sick and injured. Devices designed to slow private vehicles must be negotiated with extreme care and at a very slow speed; if not, our paramedics are at risk of serious injuries if they are unable to maintain their balance.

The Seconds Count! ordinance if passed, will enhance our ability to provide effective ambulance services to the community.

Sincerely,

/S/
