Who is the SECONDS COUNT! Citizens Group?

The SECONDS COUNT! group consists of 5231 Boulder citizens who signed a petition to put Question 2A on the municipal ballot.

The SECONDS COUNT! group was preceded by another, of over 400 Boulder citizens concerned about the NTMP (Neighborhood Traffic Mitigation Program) and the negative impacts of the proposed devices. This group worked for over four years to remind city council of their obligation to serve all residents, not just a vocal minority. The SECONDS COUNT! petition was organized by several members of this group.

A ballot initiative was the only recourse to provide uniform protection to Boulder's citizens when, in the Spring of 1999, Boulder's City Council flatly rejected the joint Fire/Transportation/Police department recommendation to prohibit mitigation devices on emergency routes.
