“Numberless birds sing among its branches, and numberless angels rest beneath its shade.”
Lineage Dance was created by Hilary Thomas to raise money for various organizations throughout the community, as well as to make the arts accessible to audiences of all demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds. What started as a single benefit dance concert for a local charity, has grown into a professional dance company that tours nationally each year raising tens of thousands of dollars for charitable causes. The Los Angeles Times has praised Lineage for its "soulful femininity and sophisticated spatial design".
The company has been highly
successful in not only raising funds, but also in creating new dance audiences
everywhere it goes. Operating under the auspices of the Pasadena Arts Council,
this accomplished group has raised funds for organizations ranging from the
Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) to Habitat for Humanity to the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
All funds gained from the National Arts Calendar project will advance the
mission of Lineage -to perform, to teach and to inspire through giving the gift
of dance (www.lineagedance.org)
