“Numberless birds sing among its branches, and numberless angels rest beneath its shade.”

General:

Twice each calendar year, Sedrat Arts reviews portfolios, proposals, and project plans to be considered for representation and advocacy through Sedrat Arts fundraising and benefit from earned income and sponsorships.  Sedrat Arts will also produce occasional events in support of the overall mission of Sedrat Arts to act as a catalyst and advocate for contemporary art, advanced musical concepts, the Art, Science, & Technology community, and other visionary projects.  It is the philosophy and goal of Sedrat Arts to promote human understanding advancement, development, and peace through aesthetic and intellectual adventure and experimentation.  Some of the fundraising activities undertaken by Sedrat Arts may also include exhibition opportunities, auctions, or events produced by outside parties for rent or hire.

Calls To Artists:

When appropriate and needed, a “Call To Artists” is distributed to Sedrat Arts Email List and announced on www.sedrat.org.  If you are not subscribed to this list you may do so by filling out the form on the appropriate page on the web site.

Proposals:

Individual artists, curators, and visionaries are invited to submit proposals to Sedrat Arts Board for selection by peer review.  Proposals are accepted and reviewed by the peer review panel twice yearly.  Deadlines are April 1st & October 1st.  The peer review panel is made up of Sedrat Arts Board and interested volunteers from the public and art community.  Each year the peer review panel submits to the Board of Directors, a recommended group of projects selected from the submitted proposals.  Once a project has been approved by the Board of Directors, each project selected then moves individually to the advocacy phase for representation in the funding pool and on the web site.  Additional advocacy may include targeted fundraising, events, grant writing, personal and corporate sponsorship or any combination of funding opportunities.

No application form will be required.

All applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae or other relevant history, project proposal, project narrative, visual support materials in the form of slide, video, or other digital media, and budget in advance of any funding or support.

Contracts:

Each project will be bound by a contract to Sedrat Arts agreeing funds provided will be used for the exempt purposes described in their proposal.  Grants and sponsorship to artists, artist groups, for scientific research and other exempt activities will be consistent with the published mission of Sedrat Arts and for the greater good of the arts community of Puget Sound region and the public at large.

Contracts with all grant recipients will be developed on a project specific basis and filed as projects are funded and/or grants awarded.  All re-granting activities will be consistent with Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Sedrat Arts will re-grant only to artists, artist groups, scientists, inventors, and other organizations in compliance with Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and within purposes expressly related to the published mission of Sedrat Arts.

All recipients will be required to submit final reports detailing usage of funds for exempt purposes.  All records will be maintained at the offices of Sedrat Arts and open for public inspection.  All day to day accounting will be kept according to best practices under Quickbooks accounting methods.

All recipients will be required to submit final reports detailing usage of funds and project outcomes.  Forms for final reporting will be provided in advance for this purpose which will detail the rights of Sedrat Arts to recover any funds which are or appear to be misused or used for purposes other than the original proposal.  All recipients will be selected by a peer review process in consultation and with participation with members of the board and outside neutral parties from the arts community, scientific experts, health professionals, non profit professionals, or general public.

Most Sedrat Arts grants and awards will be under $5,000 and in the form of direct cash awards or in-kind purchases for project support by artists or arts related activities.  Simple Outcome/Result reports will be provided to recipients which provide Q&A outcome reporting.  Ex. How was your grant or funding used?  How many people attended your event?  Did you receive any press or reviews?  Future outcome reporting and tracking will be developed as necessary for patents, donations, and other re-granting activities or support.  Larger projects will require mile stone reporting and payment on achievement re-granting.

Funding:

Sedrat Arts seeks to make funding available to artists, curators, scientists, and performers for exhibition, experimentation, performance, and development through grants, sponsorship, or other outside funding.  Funding developed through these sources is used to cover curatorial honoraria, exhibition development, production costs, packing and transportation budgets to curators in order to allow selection of works outside of the immediate Seattle area, and to assist in documentation, publication of catalogs, programs and other exhibition or performance related material.

Sales:

Art consigned to Sedrat Arts for exhibition purposes which is For Sale, will be presented at a price determined by the artist, owner, or loaning gallery or institution.  As a general rule, a price list is available on request but no prices are posted.  In the case of sales through Sedrat Arts, the resulting retail prices (after discount) are dispersed 60% to the artist, owner, or loaning gallery or institution and 40% to Sedrat Arts.  If the artist is commercially represented by a gallery within 150 miles of Seattle, the resulting final retail price is divided 50% to the artist, 25% to Sedrat Arts, 25% to the representing gallery.  Special circumstances are considered and often accommodated in regard to Consignment agreements and price.  Sales are secondary to the mission of Sedrat Arts and mainly accommodated for the benefit of the artist.
