So what is an Anglican, anyway?

That's a tough question to answer briefly. One can't define it in one line, as "Lutheran = follower of Martin Luther," or "Methodist = follower of John Wesley," or "Roman Catholic = under obedience to the Pope." No, with Anglicanism it's different and a bit more complex. Instead of trying to attack the question by looking at our history, which is often done, we'll try it differently and define Anglican by looking at the structure of our belief and practice.

First off, all religious believers come in one of two varieties. Everyone is either an atheist, one who doesn't believe in any god (such as buddhists and materialists) or a theist, one who does believe in the existence of a god or gods.
