Question WebRPG iPC/GRIP

How to chat with the other players and GM.

There is a field on the right side of the bottom edge of the WebRPG main window. Type in that box then hit return/enter. Some tricks and conventions:
To have your character say something, just type in the text.
Indicate your character is doing something, put a color (:) before the text.
First, make sure you are viewing the "Chat" sheet. If you need to, click on the "Chat" tab near the center-top of the iPC window. To send a message, type in the text box at the bottom of the windows and hit the enter key.

How to send a secret message to a player or GM (whispering).

Click on the face icon to the left of the chat field, or hit the ESC key. Select the person to whisper to from the box to the right of the face icon. Type your text and send it as above. Double click on your character's icon in the left-most pane in the iPC window. In the window that appear type your message and then click on send.

Looking at your character sheet.

With WebRPG Online, your character sheet is very important. It is where you will be doing rolls and tracking points. You can view your character sheet two ways:
Finding your character miniature (icon) in the map window and double-click on it. This approach will probably be the easiest for most beginners.
Find your character listed in the object list (left pane) and double-click on it.

Click on the "Character Sheet" tab at the center-top of the iPC window. The map updates automatically as the GM adjusts it. On the left side of your character sheet are listed the various components of the character sheet. Click on a (+) box to expand the list and see items under it. Click on an item and you will see characteristics of that item listed in the right pane.

In general, you won't need to get into your character sheet unless you want to see how its built or if you need to make changes.

How to make an Attribute roll.

On your character sheet, click on the "Roll" button to the right of your attribute. The result is sent to the chat window. Click on the left-most drop-down on the toolbar. Choose "Attribute." In the window that appears click once on the attribute you want to roll against. iPC will make the roll and send the result to the chat window pane.

How to make a Skills roll.

On your character sheet, click on the "Skills" tab. Then click on the "Roll" button to the right of the appropriate skill. The result is sent to the chat window. Click on the left-most drop-down on the toolbar. Choose "Non-Weapon Proficiency." In the window that appears click once on the skill you want to roll. iPC will make the roll and send the result to the chat window pane.

How to view the player's map.

There are a couple of ways to view the map.
You can view it as part of the WebRPG main window. Click on the little map icon at the top of the WebRPG wildow, and select an item like "Half + Half"
Double-click on the "Map Folder" object at the top of the object list. The map will appear in a new window.
Click on the "Map" tab at the center-top of the iPC window. The map updates automatically as the GM adjusts it.

Take damage to your character

On your character sheet, change the number in the left-most Hit Point field. The other is for storing your normal, maximum hit points. Be sure to click on the save button after adjusting your hit points. In the chat window, the GM will tell you how much damage to take. Click on the "Hits" button at the bottom of the iPC window. In the window that appears, type the damage value into the "Damage" field and click the "OK" button.

Roll to hit your opponent with a weapon

On your character sheet, click on the "Weapons" tab. Then click on the "Roll" button to the right of the appropriate weapon that has the "(to hit)" indicator next to it. The result is sent to the chat window.

I've set up the character sheets to make it easier for you to roll to hit.

Click on the left-most drop-down on the toolbar. Choose "Weapon." In the window that appears click once on the attribute you want to roll against. iPC will make the roll and send the result to the chat window pane. The die roll might look funny (it's a negative number), but the final result conveniently indicated the armor class you hit. The roll should take into any standard modifiers for strength/dexterity, skill level (specialization, mastery, etc.), and magic.

Roll your weapon's damage

On your character sheet, click on the "Weapons" tab. Then click on the "Roll" button to the right of the appropriate weapon that has the "(damage)" indicator next to it. The result is sent to the chat window. Click on the left-most drop-down on the toolbar. Choose "Weapon." In the window that appears right-click once on the attribute you want to roll against. iPC will make the roll and send the result to the chat window pane. The roll should take into account any standard modifiers for strength, skill level (specialization, mastery, etc.), and magic.
