Tucson's Official Ballet Folklorico Dance Group

Ballet Folklorico San Juan, an international touring Mexican folklorico dance group, was founded in 1987 in Tucson, Arizona by its Director Julie Gonzalez Gallego. The group composed of over 150 dancers from ages 4 to 18, has a repertory that ranges from Aztec Rituals to the traditional Mexican Hat Dance.

Since inception, the group has been busy performing and pleasing audiences throughout Arizona, California, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, and Mexico. These prestigious events include performances at the world famous Degollado Theater (Mexico's version of Carniguie Hall) in Guadalajara, Jalisco for Guadaljara's 450th Birthday Celebration, the Las Vegas International Mariachi Festival held at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, and Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, the Orange County International Mariachi Festival at the Anaheim Pond Arena, the Arizona Christmas Mariachi Festival at the America West Arena in Phoenix, and the Tucson International Mariachi Conference. Other privledged performances include 1993 World Youth Day with Pope John Paul ll in Denver and the 1992 Copperbowl halftime festivities in Tucson and the Cardinals game in Phoenix. These young dancers have also been casted in the movies "Young Guns ll" , "Tombstone" , and "Geronimo". This group has also performed at the DisneyLand Amusement Park and beautiful Disneyland Resort Hotel. Folklorico San Juan is also featured annually at Old Tucson Studios.

The Committment of theis talented dance group has honored them the privilege of performing with such artist as Linda Ronstadt, Vikki Carr, Lucha Villa, Veronica Castro, Guadalupe Pineda, Beatriz Adriana, Alejandro Fernandez, Jorge Muniz, and world renowned mariachi groups such as Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Mariachi Cobre, Las Perlitas Tapatias, and Mariachi Los Camperos The group's commitment and excellent performences are the reason they are so well received, appreciated and applauded everywhere they go.
