MatchBookDrive Adapter
MD-001
INSTRUCTION SHEET
Instructions for Use
If you already have the FAFileMover software installed on your Visor and you have a compatible CompactFlash (CF) card, plug the Adapter into your Springboard slot, carefully insert your CF card, and you’re ready to go. The black guides make it easy to insert your CF card correctly. Make sure that you insert your CF card with the label facing you. The ridge on the top of the CF card should be facing way from you when you are holding the Visor to insert the CF card. Another way to tell that the CF card is inserted correctly is to look carefully at the grooves in the sides of the CF card. One groove is slightly wider than the other. The wide groove should be on the right when you look at the Visor from the back. We recommend that you always run the Info test from the CFCardInfo application when you first insert your CF card, to be sure it is seated properly. If the test shows a bad CF card, exit the CFCardInfo application and reseat the adapter, then try again.
Installing the FAFileMover Software
If you have ordered the FAFileMover and/or JackBack software from MatchBook Products, you should have received an email by the time your adapter arrives, with your personal registration password for each program. Click on the link in the email to go to the website where you will be able to download your software. Follow the instructions that came with your Visor for installing the software to your Visor via your hotsync cradle.
Finding a Compatible CompactFlash card
You will require a compatible CompactFlash (CF) card. All SanDisk CF cards and all Butterfly CF cards appear to be compatible. Most Lexar CF cards are not compatible, although newer 64MB Lexar cards appear to be compatible. For a more complete list, go to www.matchbookdrive.com and click on the link for compatible cards. MatchBook Products hopes soon to sell compactflash cards that are guaranteed to be compatible with the MatchBookDrive adapter.
Warranty and Replacement Policy
The MatchBookDrive Adapter carries a 90-day warranty against manufacturing defects. Because the adapters are tested before they are shipped and have no moving parts, yours should serve you well for many years. However, if your adapter fails to work with a compatible CompactFlash card within 90 days of purchase, return it to MatchBook Products for a free replacement. Should your housing ever become cracked or broken through regular use, let us know and we will send you a replacement housing.
If you damage your adapter and wish to have a replacement, send the damaged adapter to us and we will replace it for $15.00 U.S. plus $2 shipping and handling. Please note that we can only replace damaged adapters that are returned to us. If you lose your adapter, you will have to pay full retail price for a new one.

If you have a Type I CF card, the ridge on the top of the CF card should be facing way from you when you are holding the Visor to insert the CF card. Another way to tell that the CF card is inserted correctly is to look carefully at the grooves in the sides of the CF card. One groove is slightly wider than the other. The wide groove should be on the right when you look at the Visor from the back. If you have a Type I card and the ridge on the CF card catches on the housing while you are inserting the card, simply lift up gently on the top of the CF card while pushing the card in.
To remove the CF card, simply remove the adapter from the Visor PDA and turn it over to expose the finger slot that will allow you to grasp the ridge at the top of the card and remove the card from the adapter. If you are using the thicker Type II card (which has no ridge on the top of the card), we recommend that before inserting your card, you use ordinary masking tape to tape a short length of cloth ribbon (1/4 inch wide works well) to the back of the CF card, with about 1 inch protruding above the top of the card. The ribbon can be easily adapted to the needs of your case, but will make it much easier to remove the card from the adapter.
We recommend that you always run the Info test from the CFCardInfo application when you first insert your CF card, to be sure it is seated properly. If the test shows a bad CF card, exit the CFCardInfo application and reseat the adapter, then try again.
