MatchBook Products LLC. (www.matchbookdrive.com) announced today that Keith Hudson has filed a Provisional Patent application for a family of MatchBookDrive™ Adapters.

The MatchBookDrive™ Adapter is a passive adapter that fits into the Springboard slot of a Visor and allows files to be copied from the RAM (random access memory) of the Visor to a Compact Flash card for storage. When the file is needed, it can be copied back into RAM in just a few seconds. MatchBook Products LLC. will begin shipping the MatchBookDrive™ Adapter, the world’s first commercially-available Springboard to CompactFlash adapter, on February 15.

"Today’s patent filing covers the MatchBookDrive™ Adapter we are currently selling, as well as several improved versions currently on the drawing board," said Hudson, owner of MatchBook Products LLC. "I believe I am the first to conceive and reduce to practice a Springboard to CompactFlash adapter that allows the CompactFlash to remain totally within the Springboard housing. I am beginning the patent process on two versions of this "micro" adapter, including one that still makes it easy for the CompactFlash card to be changed."

The MatchBookDrive Adapter relies on the FAFileMover software sold by Kopsis, Inc. ($10, www.kopsisengineering.com).

"We believe that the demand for extra file storage on the Visor is going to surprise even Handspring, the makers of the Visor," said Hudson. "Now that Kopsis, Inc. has shown that files can be moved to and from CompactFlash, backup software, jpeg viewers, book readers and other applications cannot be far behind."

Since January 24, 2001, MatchBook Products has been taking pre-orders for the MatchBookDrive™ Adapter, promising a February 15 shipping date. "We will begin shipping on February 15, and should fill all current orders by February 17," said Hudson.
