F.D.L. racing

"In the race for quality, there is no finish line."
--David T. Kearns

As sole owner and artisan at the F.D. Lyons Rod Company, it has been a dream of mine to build a split-bamboo flyrod that would meet my expectations in terms of appearance and performance. Twenty-seven years of restoring and repairing has given me a valuable perspective on what constitutes a well-built rod. A rod that captures the unaffected classicism, the refinement, the very atmosphere of a golden age of living; a golden age of rod building.

Also see the List of Other Collectables.

Bamboo

These rods represent the original and present standard of flyrod quality and design. Each rod is fitted with oxidized nickel silver step-down ferrules. The reel seat is a nickel-silver cap and ring over a butternut wood spacer. The stripping guide is a low-bridged agate in a nickel-silver frame. The snake guides and tip-top are black DLC. All rods come with extra tip, cloth partitioned bag and brass-capped aluminum rod tube with a custom label.
