The kids (November 1999)
My three children are Brian (age 13), David (age 10) and Diana (age 4). This picture was taken just after Thanksgiving 1999. (Diana fell on Grandma King's coffee table two days earlier, and has 9 stitches next to her left eye in this picture... Thank goodness for long hair!!!).

Brian
Brian is an eighth grader this year. He plays baseball, sings in the church choir, and plays the piano and the trumpet. He loves to read and play computer and Nintendo games. He's also becoming a history buff. He recently filled out an application for a pre-International Baccalaureate program in our school district. On the application he said that one of his aspirations is to be involved with the colonization of the moon and/or Mars.
David
David is our hockey player. He enjoys watching baseball as well, and he sings in the Longmont Children's Chorale. He hasn't started studying a musical instrument yet, but will be in middle school next year and is thinking about playing the clarinet in the band. David also loves computer and Nintendo games (he got a 10000 score on one of his Pokémon Snap pictures!) and also likes anything related to ships or railroads.

Diana
Diana is my pal. She goes fabric shopping with me and knows where the toy box is in every quilt store we frequent. She also has started picking out her own fabric, and the other day she got the toy sewing machine out! (Thank goodness it didn't have a needle in it!). She loves stuffed animals (especially bears and kitties) and has a pretty nice Beanie baby collection. She can hold her own in a Pokémon discussion with her brothers, too. Diana is in pre-kindergarten at her day care and will probably start kindergarten in the fall of 2000 (we're not positive at this point as her birthday is just past the cutoff date for our school district). We tell Diana that her eyes look just like Chocolate M&M's..... a couple of months ago she said, "My eyes are brown because I'm full of chocolate!"

The Quilt Inspectors
We have four cats at our house, one for each of us! Our first kitty was Sultan, the Siamese. We got him as a kitten in 1991. Next came Dustie (a.k.a Scarlett O'Hara "I'll never go hungry again!"), a tortie female that was a stray in our back yard. She was very skinny when we adopted her, but she's now very well fed. Phantom, the black kitty, is another stray. He likes to come inside and visit with his friends but he is definitely an outdoor cat. And finally, Sterling is Diana's kitten that we got the summer of 1999. We named him Sterling because his fur is gray with white on the tips, and it shimmers like silver when he moves.
The Scamp (October 1999)
Here's another Quilt Inspector, doing what he does best!! My friend Teresa Creech and her family had recently adopted this kitten, and he needed no Inspector training. I took this photo as Teresa was quilting Pam's Stash Quilt. I think I'm going to send this picture to Bernina.....
