The Arizona Seed Crackers
Society (ASCS) was founded in
1982 by bird-lovers in the East
Valley of Phoenix to share their
common interest. It is a non profit
organization. Meetings are held
the third Saturday of each month
at the Desert Heritage Church,
1020 N. Horne. The meetings
begin at 7:00 P.M. Members are
encouraged to attend and guests
are welcome.
The purpose of the club as stated
in the bylaws include advancing
and encouraging the knowledge,
protection, care and propagation
of all birds in captivity as well as
preserving and protection avian
species in their native
ecosystems.
A raffle is held at each meeting.
Live birds and bird related items
are offered. Once a year, in
October, a silent auction is held.
Membership is $18 for a single
and $25 for a couple, yearly.
This membership entitles you to
monthly magazines, special rates
for space at the birds mart, and
other club activities. Several area
businesses offer discounts to all
members

2005 Seed Cracker of the Year!
The new seedcracker of the year is Katherine Torre (Kat). Kat is a
very deserving recipient of the award for all of the great work she has
done in the past year on the news letter.
Unfortunately, we do not have any pictures this year. Kat just had a
new baby girl. After the birth, she suffered a major complication with
her heart. (Aorta) Because of the problem, she was unable to attend
the December meeting. The good news is that she had just arrived
home after a long stay in intensive care at the Arizona Heart
Institute.
Get Well Soon, Kat!
