Assumptions and Simplifications

  1. I assumed an absolute "glass cannon" build for the damage calculations. That is, the character puts enough points into Strength to use the bow, and then all other points go into Dexterity. Although this isn't a realistic build, it does give a sense of where the damage "envelope" is, and allows a comparison between different bow types.
  2. I ignored all equipment. You can get strength from items, thus freeing you to put more points into dexterity. You can get dexterity from items, thus adding to your overall damage. You can get explicit additions to minimum and maximum damage. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

In general, all of these will improve the damage on all bows. Obviously this isn't uniform (e.g., you can pump dex by 1,000 and not get a lot of damage out of a short bow), but I haven't done a sensitivity analysis to see how much these favor one bow over another.

  3. I ignored all plus skills modifications. Yes, the Amazon-only bows have pluses to skills. However, I can't quantify how important that is for you, and how it would impact your damage.
