Memorial Day Weekend Ride

May 24th 2003

Once again....more riding than standing around taking pictures. The day's ride was about 400 miles.

Paul's Honda Valkerie

Tom's BMW GS

Purple Deuce

Highway 40 West of Flagstaff

Another early morning, couldn't believe not everyone knew where the Castle Boutique was.....but the three of us met up and hit the road. Up I-17 to the Carefree Highway, over to Wickenburg. Up Yarnell Hill to the Ranch House for another great breakfast (stayed with me all day).

Rode from Yarnell out through Skull Valley and skirted the edge of Prescott, up to Ashfork and Williams, got off the highway a bit to cruise on old Route 66. Stopped to strech our legs at Grand Canyon Harley Davidson......and the Roadhouse Bar and Grill for a cold drink.

Came back in through Flagstaff on Highway 40, turned south and cruised past Lake Mary, Mormon Lake, and across the Rim. Stopped for gas and a bite to eat at Clint's Wells. We came down the rim through Pine, Strawberry and Payson back to Fountain Hills and a quick run back home.

Almost twelve hours on the road, some unforgettable scenery, a few close calls (some not so close), we had fun with people everywhere we stopped.....Tom has to do something about his shyness.
